Because the Spring and Summer washcloths were so popular at my LYS last summer, I decided to make a holiday sampler as well. There are 15 charted designs in this booklet. Please note that the directions are not written out (k5, p3, k2).

There are directions for making a washcloth, hand towel and baby blanket using both moss stitch and garter stitch as edgings.

Baby Blanket , approximately 30” width x 47” length
Needles: US 7 (4.5 mm) 32” or longer circular
(for ease of knitting because of large number of stitches,
work back and forth as if on straight needles) or size needed for gauge
Gauge: 4.5 stitches + 5 rows = 1” in stockinette stitch,
4 stitches + 7 rows = 1” in garter stitch
Yarn: any worsted weight (4) yarn
Yardage: approximately 1100 yards (10% added for personal knitting variance.)
Yarn used: 5 balls Cascade 220 Superwash Wool,
100% superwash wool, 100 grams, 3.5 ounces, 200 meters,
220 yards each ball, color #850 used for sample
Notions: 6 stitch markers, tapestry needle to weave in ends

Washcloth, approximately 10” width x 9” length
Needles: US 8 (5 mm) straight needles or size needed for gauge
Gauge: 4 stitches + 5.5 rows = 1” in stockinette stitch,
4 stitches + 5 rows = 1” in garter stitch,
4 stitches + 5 rows = 1” in moss stitch
Yarn: any worsted weight (4) cotton or cotton blend
Yardage: approximately 80 yards for each washcloth
Yarn used: Cascade Cotton Rich, 64% cotton, 36% polyamide, 50 grams, 1.75 ounces, 73 meters, 80 yards
One ball is needed for each washcloth.
Notions: 2 stitch markers, tapestry needle to weave in ends

Guest Towel , approximately 7” width x 14” length
Needles: US 5 (4 mm) straight needles or size needed for gauge
Gauge: 5.5 stitches + 7 rows = 1” in stockinette stitch,
5 stitches + 7 rows = 1” in garter stitch,
5 stitches + 7 rows = 1” in moss stitch
Yarn: any DK weight (3) cotton or cotton blend
Yardage: approximately 110 yards for each hand towel
Yarn used: Butterfly Super 10, 100% mercerized cotton, 125 grams, 4.4 ounces, 230 meters, 252 yards each hank, color #3841 used for samples.
One hank will make two guest towels.
Notions: 2 stitch markers, tapestry needle to weave in ends
