The Hollingbourne mitts colourwork pattern is inspired by my visits to my grandma in Hollingbourne Road in London when I was a little girl. She had a love for making and was always working on something when I came to visit, whether it was knitting, sewing or even felting little stuffed animals for me to play with. The colourwork pattern reminds me of the curtains they had in the attic of their Victorian house where I would stay. I would lie staring up at the pattern and look through to the chimneys pots of the London skyline. The original sock pattern was made in blue like the sky. These mitts are made in pink for grandma´s favourite colour (and the shade she would often dye her white hair ´to give it a bit more pizzazz´!)

These sweet and easy to knit mitts are knit in the round using two contrast colours with an overall colourwork pattern. Stitches are increased on the side to create the thumb.
