I designed this sock for a shop hop at Knit Picky and Hooked and Plum Tree yarns in southeastern Michigan. The theme was Christmas in July. I love Christmas and in 2021 I knit 25 pairs of holiday socks for the month of December. I decided that this pair needed to be accessible for the holiday and chose to design a motif inspired by holly leaves and berries.
I really enjoyed Colorwork socks during 2021 so I knew that was the direction I wanted to go. If you are nervous about Colorwork in socks and it being too tight I highly recommend using the 10” circulars from Addi Skacel. I really enjoy these for Colorwork because one needle is longer then the other and it makes it easier to grip then other 9” circulars. Plus I also recommend when not doing the Colorwork sections to just use whatever sock knitting method you most prefer. Stretching out your stitches on the needle often also helps.
This was my very first design and I want to thank Laura and Knit Picky and Hooked for being so patient with me while working it out. I was pregnant with my fourth baby during the design process and had a lot of rough days. Thank you.
