Written for fingering weight yarn, this pattern is versatile and can be knit in any weight of yarn, in any length, and in any configuration of blocks and stripes as long as you have two contrasting colors.

It doubles up for extra warmth around the neck, but it can also be knit to half the size for a single layer cowl.

Half of the cowl is stranded knitting to make the blocks, and the other half is stripes. Together, they make a project really POP to show off the colors of beautiful yarns. You can also choose to only do a few stripes and a few blocks, and make the rest of the project solid.

It is easy enough for mindless knitting, but interesting enough so that you won’t get bored knitting it…or wearing it!

Skill Level: Advanced Beginner. Knowledge of provisional cast on, knitting in the round, color chart reading, stranded knitting, and kitchener stitch required.

Yarn: two contrasting skeins of sock yarn (solid or semi solid). Sample knit in “Neon Splash” String Beans from Bean Blossom Fibers, and “Liquorice” Signature 4-ply from West Yorkshire Spinners.
