Home for Christmas is an overlay mosaic crochet pattern.

One day, I started designing a gingerbread house, but I got a little carried away – and ‘Home for Christmas’ was born.

This is my first (possibly not my last) large picture style design. I normally do simple repeating patterns, but I thought for once I’d go big and see how it goes.

This pattern has all the charts and written instructions you need to complete the blanket.

  • Three PDFs are available - one using US terms, one using UK terms and a separate full chart PDF that is compatible with Knit Companion if that’s how you prefer to work. Otherwise, you can use the charts in the main PDF, either by printing them out and taping them together or viewing them on your mobile/tablet/laptop.

  • The main PDF has 24 easy-to-read charts (with Xs for DCs) and corresponding written instructions.

You can use any yarn and corresponding hook you like for this pattern, just remember high contrast colours are better for mosaic crochet.

This design looks great either in two colours, or you could go for it and go full mosaic tapestry with many colours. The choice is yours.

Please note that this pattern does not give instructions or yarn stats for mosaic tapestry crochet.

If using Red Heart Super Saver, you will need approximately 13 skeins for the main body of the blanket (including a simple 3-row double border in colour A)

• 8 skeins for Colour A - total 2912 yards
• 5 skeins for Colour B - total 1820 yards

The afghan size with a small border will be approx. 52” wide x 72” tall

I hope you enjoy creating your own Home for Christmas blanket.
