This pattern is written for 1 skein of DK yarn however it is very easy to adjust to your requirements as you see fit.

To make the cowl longer, add an even number of sts.
To make it wider, repeat the pattern until you reach your desired width. Keep in mind that increasing length or width will use more than the 1 skein of yarn that this pattern is written for.
