Have you ever had a song stuck in your head? This happens to me quite often. In May we were at a family picnic where my uncle was playing his guitar and singing Puff the Magic Dragon. For days afterward, I couldn’t get the song out of my head. As a result I began to wonder, “What if Jackie Paper had been a girl? How would she have gotten all of those things over to Puff’s cave? Sealing wax, string, and other fancy stuff…hmmm. What if the string had been yarn?” Then I ran across the puff stitch in one of my mom’s stitch encyclopedias.
