These overalls are knit in the round from the bottom up.

The original pair was knit by my mother-in-law Pearl for my daughter Madalyn in 1979. Pearl was an amazing knitter…and her husband Rube (who is now 90!) loves to say she was so good at knitting she could knit in the dark at “the show”.

I have recreated this pattern in anticipation of the birth of my daughter’s first child, due in September 2011!!

Hope Street is where Pearl and Rube raised their six kids…..where my husband Henry and I lived for three years when our kids were little …where my daughter and her now husband lived for 5 years while they finished school…and where my father-in-law Rube still lives!

That’s Madalyn in the blue overalls knit by Pearl…in a sweater knit by my mom Lorraine…in a hat knit by my aunt Bobbie …laying on a quilt made by my great aunt Mamie…on a blanket knit for my niece Vanessa by my mom!

And….that’s Myles in the brown overalls (one of his many pairs), born August 14th 2011!

Please don’t hesitate to be in touch if you have any questions about the pattern!
