SIZE:
If using the recommended yarn weight and hook size your honeybee will be about 2.75” (7 cm) long (including antennae), with a wingspan of 2.75” (7 cm).

CONSTRUCTION:
The head and body are crocheted without sewing. The eyes are embroidered. The legs, proboscis and antennae are shaped with craft wire. The wings are sewn on the body.

MATERIALS AND TOOLS:

  • Light worsted (DK/size 3) or 4-Ply (Sport/Fingering/size 2) cotton yarn in dark brown or black, yellow, and a small amount in pale red I used Scheepjes Catons in Chocolate, Saffron, and Brick Red
  • Mohair Lace Yarn or similar I used Hobbii Diablo in Primrose
  • Cotton lace yarn in beige or white I used Hobbii Rainbow Lace in Beige
  • 2.5mm crochet hook (size B-1 or C-2, depending on how tightly you crochet)
  • 2mm crochet hook (size A-0 or B-1, depending on how tightly you crochet)
  • Black embroidery floss
  • Stitch markers
  • Yarn needle
  • Large-eyed sewing or embroidery needle
  • Scissors
  • Pins
  • Craft wire (for the legs and antennae)
  • Glue (for the legs and antennae)
  • Small flat pliers (for the legs and antennae)
