As most people know, horses have always been a tremendous passion of mine. Several years ago, I was very fortunate to have met a horse trainer who has made a tremendous difference to my horse and I. She is an amazing horse person and wonderful soul. In addition to training horses, she runs a horse rescue through which she has done some incredible work. The shawls I made from this design were donated to a silent auction fundraising dinner to benefit her rescue, Hope4Horses. If you are interested in the good work that this organization does and/or if you want to make a donation to a very worthy cause, please check out her site, you can find several ways to donate/help by clicking on the “Sponsoring horses in need” tab.

This is a simple shawl pattern that is designed to be knit up in “horse colors”, but would really work with any yarns. it’s a lot of fun, works up quickly and makes a great gift for those horse-lovers out there!

You will want about 400 yards of the main “body” color and 150-200 yards of the “mane” color for the border/fringe. A crochet hook will help you put the fringe on a bit easier.
