A cowl designed to introduce knitters to lace and chart-reading! You’ll learn two different lace patterns and knit the project in the round. Lace patterns are only offered as charts at this time. Helpful tips specific to the lace patterns featured in the cowl are illustrated with photos. You will also receive a tutorial on the basics of reading charts as a part of this pattern download.

For the gauge statement, the 21 sts per 4”/10 cm is more critical than the 12 rows per 4”/10 cm. This measurement should be taken over two of the horseshoe motifs.

Yardage estimation: 185 yards is the bare minimum for the cowl as pictured. The original cowl (the yellow one shown in photos) took exactly 180.5 yards/47g of Silky Wool, which comes in a 192 yd/50g hank; if you swatch, you’ll need somewhere between 20-25 yards more.

Many, many thanks to twosticksworth for her assistance and technical support in preparing the pattern and charts.
