This top emerged from a quest to be able to wear a handknit top every single day of the year. Even on the hottest days of an Indiana summer you can feel comfortable and well-dressed wearing this swing top over a tank top. Wear over a liner tee with sleeves and extend the wearing season into spring and fall. Linen, cotton blends, and light weight wools will all work well for this piece.

Horseshoe lace is a traditional Shetland lace pattern. Traditional stitch patterns have the virtue of being easy to work, easy to memorize, and beautiful, making them perfect for busy knitters. The cable up the center front is set in a background of lace and is quite easy to work.

This top is worked in 4 panels. The front and back panels are worked straight up from the cast on with no shaping except for the front neckline. The armhole and swing hemline are shaped in the side panel.
