Pattern Inspiration:

These mitts were inspired by the element of Earth. Earth always makes me think of green and growing things, so I picked stitches that reflected little sprouts emerging from the soil. Hortus means “garden” in Latin, exactly the vibe I was going for with these stitches.

Basic Information:

Pattern is written in US crochet terms.
Yarn: DK weight (weight 3). Approximately 130-175 yards. I used Explorer Knit Rockies DK (100% superwash merino, 274 yards/100g) for my sample.
Hook: 3.75 mm, or size needed to meet gauge.
Finished size - unstretched: Small - 5.5” palm, 5” wrist Medium - 6.5” palm, 6” wrist Large - 7.5” palm, 7” wrist.
Gauge: Before blocking, 12 rows of scblo ribbing = 2” long, unstretched.
