A Classic Houndstooth Check, with a Fair Isle-Patterned Yoke.
This sweater features an open rib at the back, helping to give a fitted but relaxed fit. It also has visible increases on the cuffs, which give a modern and structured look to the wide sleeves. Occasional rounds of purl stitch on the yoke give textural interest. The neck ribbing is doubled over, using a contrast colour on the underside. A fun sweater to experiment with pattern and colour; the houndstooth motif is a rhythmic and easy one to knit, with dramatic results! Knit in the round from the bottom up.

Fit
This garment has approximately 20 cm of intended positive ease, giving a relaxed fit. The rib pulls the main fabric in at the bottom, giving it a slightly rounded silhouette, which is eased up by the slit at the back. It is cropped to sit just below the natural waist.

Special Techniques used
Stranded Colourwork, Twisted Rib and Short Rows to raise the back neck. Instructions for these techniques are included in the pattern, however I do assume a basic knowledge of the techniques.

Materials

For the body ribbing:
1 x pair of size 2.75 mm straight needles

For the main body:
1 x size 3 mm (US 2.5, UK 11) circular needle 80 cm long

For the cuffs and neck ribbing:
1 x set of 2.75 mm dpns OR circular needle if using the magic loop method

*For the sleeve:*
1 x set of 3 mm dpns OR circular needle if using the magic loop method

or needles to get gauge then 2 sizes down for the ribbing
Please note I have a loose tension and many of my test-knitters sized up to 3.5 mm needles for this pattern!
