How Sweet It Is Shawl
Pattern Inspiration:
For this shawl collaboration, we wanted to create designs that felt classic and romantic. The name of this pattern comes from the song “The First Time It Happens” from the movie The Great Muppet Caper, sung by Kermit and Miss Piggy to express their love for one another. How perfect for this romantic shawl.
Basic Information:
Pattern is written in US crochet terms.
Yarn: Fingering weight (CYC weight 1). Approximately 150 (bandana)/400 (small shawl)/800 (large shawl) yards. I used Cesium Yarn fingering weight (463yds/100g) for my samples.
Hook: 3.75 mm, or size needed to meet gauge.
Finished sizes: Bandana - 31” wide, 9.5” deep. Small shawl - 62” wide, 22” deep. Large shawl - 88” wide, 36” deep.
Gauge: Before blocking, the first 6 rows should measure approximately
6” wide by 2.25” deep. However, gauge is not critical for this project.
Notes:
The shawl is worked from the top center outward, with increases along the top edge and at the center.
Though this pattern was designed for fingering weight yarn, the simple repeat means it could be worked at any gauge.
Two border options are available. My green bandana sample features the flat border, my pink sample features the scalloped border.
