This shawl was inspired by the flowers known as Chinese lanterns or hozuki in Japanese. Starting at the nape of the neck the shawl begins with a lace leaf pattern and then transitions into reverse stockinette. The body of the shawl is worked in reverse stockinette and the lanterns float on the surface of the shawl. The crescent shape of the shawl is due to the increases worked around each lantern. The shawl is edged with a scalloped lace pattern and finishes with a loopy bind off.

Finished size: 42 inches in width along the garter stitch edge and 17.5 inches from the center back to the cast off edge
