A friend asked me to design a pair of socks for her daughter, because she wanted a hand made cozy Christmas gift. She explained her daughter had skinny legs and the same size feet as me. That sounded like a great idea! I asked which colours this young lady may like and the answer was: “Black, grey and red. Boring colours really.” I am personally a fan of bright and crazy colours, but I did what I could to abide by the young lady’s wishes and design her a fun sock.
This sock is knitted from the ankle down towards the toe and is designed to fit nicely around the smaller ankle and foot. This makes it a great sock for skinny lady feet and teens. It is a sturdy looking sock with the elegance of a small cable.
The pattern is designed for a US 7-9 female foot and has a stretch that hugs the ankle nicely.
I prefer the Patons Kroy Socks (4-ply) for this sock as it brings out the colours and the cable work nicely. One skein is just not enough to make two socks, so you will need 2. If you want to make the sock higher on the calf, you can use the extra yarn.
This pattern is worked with 3 mm double pointed needles.
