This pattern was inspired by the yarn, which is 30% baby camel. True humped camels (dromedaries) have been domesticated for many years. When they wear a saddle, it is often adorned with lots of colorful tassels. My modern take was to make a poncho with some tassel fun and an ombre of speckles. The result, an easy poncho in a lovely fiber blend that is easy to adapt to your preferences. The HUMP DAY Poncho!

Pattern is written for about 350g (1015 yards) of DK yarn, so you could substitute another yarn with similar drape in 3 colors (or one color). Tassels are optional. Instructions are written for one size fits most but also included are recipes to modify the size. Therefore, you could even increase the size beyond XL with the 400g total of yarn in the kit. You also can adapt the poncho closure on the sides as a final step. If you don’t close the sides permanently, you can even turn the poncho and wear it sideways. The neck opening is easily modified in size as well.

Blocking is key in this project, as the poncho grows significantly (@ 30%) in length (as this project is knit side to side) and flattens out when done as written with the kit yarn. Please keep this in mind when making any modifications or substituting yarn.
