Knitted seamlessly from the top down, Humphrey is a classic V-neck sweater with an all-over textured pattern.

Any DK, Sport Weight or similar weight yarn which knits to the correct gauge is suitable. The pattern sample was knitted in a pure wool yarn.

Knitting begins at the neck. The yoke is worked back and forth until the V-neck shaping is complete, then the fronts are joined, and the yoke is then worked in the round to the armholes. The sleeves are separated, stitches cast on for the underarms, and the body worked down in the round. The sleeve stitches are picked up and worked down in the round. Finally, stitches are picked up for the neckband, which is worked in a k1p1 rib, decreasing for the front V.
I have provided charts for the V-neck shaping and pattern placement on the fronts, up to the point when the fronts are joined. However, I have also given full written instructions if you do not like to follow charts.

Finished chest measurements: 46 (51, 56, 61) cm / 18 (20, 22, 24) inches.

When deciding which size to knit, please use the age ranges as a guide only. Choose a size based on chest measurement plus ease.

Techniques Used: Knitting in the round, maintaining pattern while shaping, directional increases and decreases in both knit and purl, picking up stitches. It will help to have knowledge of seamless garment construction.
