The Hunter Socks are a modern twist on an old English riding sock. I wanted to invoke a vast misty forest at dawn, hounds leading the way, as the crisp morning air rushes past, horse and rider as one.

As the socks took shape, they became ever so slightly more modern. The classic cables found a pop of contrast in the toe and heel, and a colour block cuff.

And they became socks for hunting anything at all! A long awaited treasure in a used book store, a special rock on a hike, mushrooms and berries in the forest, a new special coffee shop.

Beautiful, cozy, fun to knit and absolutely adorable peeking out from whatever kind of boots you wear on your next adventure.

The pattern emerges over a 28 row repeat. These deceptively simple cables are easily memorized and intuitive. Cable needle is optional as these cables are easily worked without the extra needle.

This pattern will shine when using yarn that is solid, tonal, lightly speckled or has low contrast variegation! As always, use whichever sock yarn you are excited to use, while being aware that the detail of the pattern may be lost in very busy yarns.

This pattern is Toe Up construction, includes 4 sizes and a gusset and heel flap heel construction.

Yarn for this Club was dyed by Meredith of Sweet Pea and Sparrow Yarns, be sure to check out her shop for lots of beautiful yarn!
