In the High Atlas Mountains of Morocco, men have been knitting for generations to keep their families warm during the snowy winters.
This High Atlas Mountain knitting pattern is based off of a sock construction technique taught to me by Hussein - a shepherd and knitter. The booties are knit from the toe up and are very easy to adapt to any size foot. It is a simple pattern that is perfect for beginner sock knitters.

The pattern uses handspun yarn made by the women of Hussein’s village. The yarn falls within the Sport to DK yarn weights and is wonderfully fuzzy and rustic - perfect for keeping your toes warm and cozy.

This sock is made according to the wearer’s foot so any yarn can be used and gauge is not necessary. The gauge provided is what was achieved for the example sock shown, which fits a US women’s shoe size 6.5.

Materials Needed:
US size 0 double-pointed needles (set of 5)
Any Sport or DK weight yarn measuring 210 to 300 yards for adult socks
Optional tassels or pompoms
