Swaddle yourself in stitches with this geometric woolly blanket. Each section is knit in horizontal strips with one color at a time as you modularly knit the sections together, resulting in zero seaming! This DK weight blanket is ideal for single skeins and leftover bits of DK weight yarn. You can also hold two strands of fingering weight yarn together for the color blocked parallelogram shapes. This blanket was named after the Hvammsvík Hot Springs in Iceland, where you can soak in warm pools of water while looking at the mountainous and mossy landscape. I was inspired by these natural Icelandic colors for the color palette in the large blanket. Gritty neutrals with grungy pops of color reflect the rugged beauty of this magical island filled with sheep. Choose between three sizes to knit a small baby blanket, lap throw, or knit the large size, which is perfect for snuggling on the couch while knitting and watching movies.

Sizes
Small (Medium, Large)

The small size is perfect for a baby blanket.
The medium size is good for a decorative throw for your couch.
The large size is a big cozy size for cuddling on the couch.

Yardage
Approximately 1150 (3500, 5280)yds / 1052 (3018, 4828)m total

Gather a large pile of colors to begin your blanket. Get creative with your colors and use this blanket to help stashbust your yarns!

Each parallelogram requires approximately 15yds / 14m of yarn. The I-cord border requires approximately 100 (150, 200)yds / 91 (137, 183)m. The I-cord border yarn is included in the total yardage estimation.

Color A - Sherbert
Color B - Flamingo
Color C - Beatrix

Large Size
A variety of yarns including Vatnsness DK, Einrúm DK, & Biches & Bûches Sport. I collected these yarns in Iceland, my favorite places to knit. This blanket is a great souvenir project to feature collected yarns from your traveling adventures. I used 22 colors for the parallelogram color blocks + a dark border color for the I-cord frame around the edge.

Needles
US 6 / 4mm circular in 24″ / 60 cm length or size needed to obtain gauge

The I-cord border is picked up around perimeter of the blanket at the end. For the medium and large size, you will need a very long circular needle or three long circular needles to fit all the picked-up sts before working the I-cord BO.

Notions
1 split ring marker, tapestry needle

Gauge
22 sts & 44 rows = 4″ / 10cm in garter stitch after blocking
