Unexpected gifts…
When we moved into our very first home in late winter, my husband and I were delighted that Spring with the unexpected gift of gardens the previous owners had lovingly planted and tended. The first flowers to appear were a row of colorful Hyacinths. When we moved to our next home, years later, there were similar lovely surprises, including a row of Grape Hyacinths!

We can all remember the joy of an unexpected gift – whether from family, friends or even someone unknown to us. In this time of hardship we are all experiencing around the world, I’d like to offer this shawl, bedecked with Hyacinths, as an “unexpected gift”. Make it for yourself as a hug from me to you, or gift the shawl you knit to someone you know who could use a tender embrace! ~ Cherie

Style and Stitches
Knit on the bias from the bottom up, with a 19-20” width to start, gradually decreasing to the top; quicker stitching at the end, with fewer and fewer stitches! The generous 72-76” length allows for wrapping around your neck once to wear in a scarf-like style. Stitches include: Garter stitch stripes, Lace, Hyacinth flowers made with twisted stitches and bobbles, and an I-cord edge (perfect for carrying yarn colors up the side and hiding the yarn ends!)
