***UPDATE** Please note that Red Heart Hygge Fur has been recently discontinued (June 2022). Sorry about this but I hope there will be another suitable fur yarn available soon!

This project was inspired by our experience in fostering a Standard Poodle puppy for the Lions’ Foundation of Canada Dog Guides
link text https://www.dogguides.com/index.html They provide service dogs free of charge to people in need. They train dogs for service in various ways. Our puppy, Odin graduated from the Autism Assistance Dog program and served a family until his retirement. We now have Odin back home to stay!
It is because of this fabulous program that 50% of the proceeds from the sale of this pattern will be donated to support Dog Guides.

The yarns I used in this project were:
-Red Heart Soft -{Medium}
2 -5oz/ 141g balls of background colour
smooth face part (Off White)
eye and nose (Black)
For the “furry” parts of the poodle
1- 200g ball Red Heart Hygge Fur {Bulky} ( Sand Castle)
The Hygge yarn can be purchased through Yarn Canada yarncanada.ca if you can’t find it in stores.

You will also need

  • five (5) buttons of your choice for the closure
  • 16”x16” pillow form yarn stitch markers ( at least 9) 2 US 6 (4mm) circular needles 30” or longer One more US 6 needle for three- needle bind off

The needle size is whatever you will need to achieve the proper gauge. I tend to knit loosely but I wanted a tighter weave so I used US 6 (4mm) circular needles for the Red Heart Yarn. You can use pretty much any type of worsted weight of yarn for the project, but to get the curly effect on the poodle, you really need the Red Heart Hygge Fur yarn. I used a larger needle for the ear (US7).
