PATTERN RELEASE : April 11, 2020
a coupon code for Hylocereus yarn kits from Hu Made yarns will be included in the yarn info in the pattern until through April 25, 2020!

Hylocereus is the drapiest, coziest swoncho of my dreams. It’s the perfect canvas for a super special hand-dyed yarn or that pretty bit of mohair you have leftover from another project.
Simple stockinette (with mohair microstripes for interest!) makes up the Front and Back pieces. Work them separately bottom-up, then join at the shoulders. Sleeves are picked up at the edges then knit flat to the cuff and seamed. Finish off with a bit of ribbing to frame the open sides and V-neck.

Sizing for this swoncho is meant to be flexible: the open sides mean you don’t need to worry about nailing an exact amount of ease for a great look and fit! I recommend choosing your size based on the combination of width and length measurements to determine what kind of swoncho you want. Test knitters all went for different fits and achieved beautiful, unique results from boxy and cropped to long and drapey. Start with the measurement of your wingspan from elbow to elbow for a comfy sleeve placement (see measurement A on the schematic), then deciding the length as you go if you are unsure. Short knitters with a larger bust may opt for more length instead of more width so that the sleeves to do not start too far past the elbow, for example. Or you may prefer your sleeves to start several inches past your elbow, in which case you could choose more width and have a very flappy swoncho! Several sizes fit several figures!

Sample (black, white, and purple) is size 2, worn by Caitlin who has a 36” bust and is 5’ 2”.
Second sample (red, white, teal) is also size 2, worn by Allison who has a 34” bust and is 5’ 4”.

SIZES
1, 2 (3, 4, 5, 6)
Note on sizes: since the sides are not joined, I recommend choosing your size based on wingspan or height rather than just your chest circumference. You can decided where on your arm you’d like the sleeves to begin (I recommend near the elbow) and measure your wingspan from those points on your arms. Neck circumference is the same for all sizes.
For example, if you have a shorter wingspan/height and a larger bust, you may choose one of the smaller sizes but knit a longer length, or choose a larger size for the wider width and make it slightly more cropped so it doesn’t overwhelm your figure. Sizes 1 and 2 have different widths but the same length. Sizes 3 and 4 have the same width but different lengths, and the same goes for sizes 5 and 6.

A: Measurement across chest at underarm, laying flat:
28.5, 31 (34, 34, 38, 38)”
72.5, 79 (86.5, 86.5, 96.5, 96.5)cm
B: Front length from shoulder to hem:
19.5, 19.5 (21.5, 26, 21.5, 26)”
49.5, 49.5 (54.5, 66, 54.5, 66)cm
C: Back length from center neck to hem:
21.5, 21.5 (24, 28, 24, 28)”
54.5, 54.5 (61, 72.5, 61, 72.5)cm
D: Sleeve length:
Sleeves are custom fit. Length and circumference for sleeve are determined after working the Front and Back. Sample length is 10.5”/26.5cm.
