18 sts & 25 rounds = 10 cm / 4” over double-knit stocking stitch in the round on 4 mm needles after blocking.

Note: This will actually be 36 sts, but sts are only counted on one side of the swatch.

Needles: 4 mm / US 6 circular needle, 60 cm / 24” length Always use a needle size that will result in the correct gauge after blocking.

Notions: Stitch marker, 4 additional stitch markers to mark each repeat of the chart (optional), tapestry needle.

Notes: Hypatia uses a mixture of double-stranded
(“marled”) garter stitch and double knitting in the round. Each double-knit stitch on the chart represents 2 stitches: one knitted using the colour appearing on the chart and the other purled using the other colour. The knit stitches form the front face of the fabric, while the purl stitches form the back face.
