I Have My Quirks
This is a tutorial with general instructions for making a hat like the one pictured.
This hat is meant to be made using scrap yarns so I have not specified a gauge in the pattern details above (but have listed it below), as it will depend on the yarns and needle size chosen by you. Instructions do include the needle size and number of stitches I cast on for my own hat using my Knit Picks scrap yarns.
Read all the instructions through first so you are confident you have the skills to complete this project and will enjoy knitting it up! This is a very basic, quick knit that can be adapted to any size very easily. I hope it encourages you to use up some of your own scraps!
I used mostly Wool of the Andes Superwash, then Comfy and Shine, and a bit of the Swish, so I listed it as the suggested yarn but you can try it out with whatever you’ve got!
For my hat, I used US size 6 circular needles and cast on 108 sts.
My gauge was around 23 sts/4 in. (measured hat after blocking.)
