Double knitting is a great way to create extra soft, squishy, and warm fabric. You’re working 2 pieces of knitted fabric at the same time, giving you a reversible cowl!

Supplies
2 hanks Knitted Wit Sock (90% Superwash Merino/10% Nylon; 100 grams/420 yards); 2 different colors. I used the following colorways and amounts for the sample:
MC - Naked, 275 yards
CC - Love is Love, 310 yards
Size 6 (4mm) 24-inch circular needle, or size necessary to achieve gauge
15 Stitch markers (1 marker should be different for BOR)
Yarn needle

Gauge
5 stitches = 1 inch in circular double knit fabric on size 6 (4 mm) needles

Finished Measurements
One Size Fits Most; approximately 30” circumference and 7” tall, before blocking. Block to desired measurements.

Note: When double knitting, make sure you choose colors that contrast so that your pattern shows up. I like to designate the lighter color as my Main Color (MC) and darker color, or variegated color, as my Contrast Color (CC). I think this makes it easier to follow the chart, as well as see the pattern in my knitting.

You can easily adjust the circumference of this cowl by adjusting the number of stitches you cast on in multiples of 10. And you can adjust the height by adjusting the number of times you work through the chart.
