Bomber Jackets make any outfit instantly cool.
I wanted to knit a really warm one that would be different from ready to wear jackets. Seeing the hugely popular two-color brioche
everywhere, I knew instantly this fabric would be perfect for my puffy jacket. I chose Icelandic Lettlopi Yarn for its unique
properties of being extremely warm and lightweight at the same time.
If you want to substitute this yarn, I would suggest a single ply yarn to result in a light fluffy fabric.
This jacket is a great companion from fall to spring.
It is worked flat in pieces and then sewn together. There are two slanted inset pockets and a zipper.
Difficulty level: intermediate
Techniques: long tail cast-on; two-color brioche; Increasing and decreasing in two-color brioche; binding off; picking up stitches; sewing in a zipper.
This pattern includes some photos to illustrate the pocket and collar construction. Links to two-color brioche instructions are provided.
The model in the photos wears a size M/L, she is 5’6” tall and has a bust measurement of 34’, a hip measurement of 37”. The last photo is of myself, I am 5”10”, my bust measurement is 38” and I am wearing the size M/L.
