My kids picked the colors for this hat based on their questionable taste in ice cream flavors (cotton candy, bubble gum, unicorn sparkle…what?) Regardless, it’s a fun hat to knit and an easy introduction to colorwork. There are no long floats to catch and the pattern is short enough to memorize. Knitting it was great for practicing my tension in stranded colorwork.

I used size 4 and 6 circular needles because I wanted a warm, dense, hat and I tend to knit loosely. You may find that you want to size up to sizes 5 and 7 to get the correct gauge (or maybe not).

Grab some ice cream and happy knitting!
