Ice Diamonds is a fully reversible scarf with pointed ends and optional tassels. The beginning points use simple increases and are worked separately, then joined. One more increase at each edge establishes the full width of the scarf, which is worked with only knit and purl stitches until the final edge decreases and shaping the final points.

Options (and photos) are given for 3 different yarns used to create the scarf:

  1. Plymouth Select Chunky Merino Superwash on US 8/5.0mm needles - 5 hanks. Approx 76” / 193cm long (not including tassels) x 10” / 25.5cm wide.

  2. Malabrigo Chunky on US 8/5.0mm needles - 6 hanks. Approx. Approx 72” / 183cm long (not including tassels)x 11” / 29cm wide.

  3. Plymouth Homestead on US 7/4.5mm needles - 3 hanks. Approx. Approx 70” / 178cm long (not including tassels)x 9” / 23cm wide.

I’ve rated this pattern as Intermediate because of the use of left- and right-leaning increases, joining the points, and a pattern stitch that is not easily carried in memory; however, a confident beginner would be able to knit this scarf.
