Ice Out Hat
THIS PATTERN IS A FUNDRAISER: All proceeds from the sale of this pattern will be donated to the Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota (www.ilcm.org), “a nonprofit organization that provides free immigration legal representation to low-income immigrants and refugees in Minnesota and North Dakota.” Thank you for supporting our immigrant neighbors.
The Ice Out Hat is worked in the round from the bottom up, beginning with a k2 p1 rib folded brim. The text pattern is created using stranded colorwork and a spiral pattern of decreases is worked to create the crown of the hat. This pattern is great for adventurous beginners looking to get started with colorwork or more advanced knitters looking for a quick and fun project to use up some stash yarn.
The sample is knitted in Lamb’s Pride Worsted, but any aran weight yarn will work.
Techniques used include creating a seamless folded brim, working a rib stitch, working two-strand color work, and working a simple decrease pattern.
This pattern requires two colors of yarn, around 100-150 yards/meters of background color and a small amount of contrasting yarn for the design.
