Icicles got its name due to the wintery, pearlescent white yarn used for the body, plus the pale grey pom-pom on top reminding me of a snowball! The curvature of the cables reminded me of twisting, glittering icicles - and the name felt appropriate for a hat intended for autumn/winter wear. The hat itself is knit in 4-ply, giving it a delicate feel, whilst the thicker pom-pom on top gives the whole thing a cosy, warm vibe.

This pattern is available in one size, designed for a 22” adult head with some give in either direction, but gauge can be adjusted by going up or down a needle size accordingly.

The pattern requires around half of a 50g skein of 4ply yarn and around a third of a skein of DK - but this will vary depending upon how voluminous you like your pom-poms!
