“A painting requires a little mystery, some vagueness, and some fantasy. When you always make your meaning perfectly plain you end up boring people”
- Edgar Degas

When you stand in front of an Impressionist masterpiece, what do you see? Quiet vibrancy, indistinct edges, and clear warm light. The richness of ordinary moments captured in glimpses: this is the true magic of the Impressionists. They chose subjects from their everyday lives and lifted them up exactly as they saw them, beautiful even in their imperfection. Somehow, by showing us how much there is to celebrate in a fleeting glance, they invite us to look deeper. The Impressionists showed us what they saw, but left room for our imaginations as well.

Our creative work as knitters also grounds us in the same sensory experience of each moment: colour and shadow, softness and weight. The mystery of making, whether you are laying down brushstrokes on a canvas or knitting yarn together stitch by stitch, remains the same.
