Fresh off my hook, this pattern is the epitome of old world charm and classical elegance.

Inspired by springtime in my garden, this Christening Shawl, called ‘In bloom’ would make a special keepsake heirloom piece for any newborn baby.

You will receive the pattern for 2 sizes (ie. A smaller and a larger version). The smaller version is a lap sized shawl and is perfect for laying across the body or lap of your baby when they’re in their stroller, car capsule/seat, cot or pram. The larger size is a wrap size and is perfect to wrap around your baby with plenty of excess for a beautiful draped look.

The Shawl/Blanket is worked in the round, is very versatile (unisex) and can be worked in a number of color variations. Please have a look at my photos to see the 2 variations I made (ie. Multi colored center rose with ribbon vs plain white), but the possibilities are endless.

The Shawl/Blanket is worked in 3 stages, beginning with a center rose, main body, followed by a beautiful detailed scallop edge.

Smaller version - Approx: 61cm (24”) diameter – This is a lap blanket size.
Larger version – Approx: 86.5cm (34”) diameter - This is a wrap around size.

Yarn size: 4ply baby wool
