The wide crescent of In Shadow of the Leaves is formed from a sequence of laces. The shawl is highly adaptable in side: the main lace-charts may be be repeated as you wish, or the final lace omitted.

Suitable for any yarn, from cobweb to fingering weight, that knits with good stitch-definition, and about 350m/385yds upwards.

.The pale-green to greyish-lavender gradient shawl used 107g = 642m/702yds of heavy laceweight yarn
.The pink to purple gradient shawl used 71g = 426m/466yds of heavy laceweight yarn

Please note that the pattern is given as charts only, with little written explanation. It should present no difficulties to knitters with experience of working lace and the ability to read their stitches, but is not really suitable for beginners.

Erratum
chart 3, row 1: in the main section, the shawl-body stitches, after the red repeat-box the stitches should read
yo (as the second of a dble-yo), sssk, k3, yo, bunny-ear, yo, k1, yo, k2, k-tbl; (and finish with selvedge as usual: 02, k2)
(The chart has (k2 k3tog), where there should be k3.)
