Introducing: the Inclusive Chicken

-This pattern includes instructions on how to crochet a plain, or Pride striped chicken (up to a 7 striped/colour flag).
-Instructions on plain and striped eggs is also given.
-Also included is a version WITH or withOUT the ability to hold an egg inside.
-This pattern is component based to allow for personalization: “rooster” and “hen” shaped pieces can be mixed and matched with stripes or egg holding capabilities to make your own best reflection.
-Plain is also an option

Pattern includes photos for technique clarification, major steps, and assembly- this pattern does not contain photos for every repeating step.

Level: Confident beginner/early intermediate- stitches are simple, but there’s small pieces and sewing.

Project time: approx. 2.25 hours to 3 hours (depending on pieces chosen) at an average pace.

Finished size: (approximate: tension and yarn choice may vary final size)
Chicken: Height: 6 ½” (15cm), Width: 4” (10 cm), Length: 5” (13 cm) plus tail
Egg: Height: 2” (15cm), Width: 1 ½” (4 cm)

Supplies:
• 3.5mm hook
• Stitch markers, or similar (optional)
• Yarn needle (for sewing)
• Polyfil
• 12mm safety eyes (or similar).
• Worsted weight Yarn (weight- Medium/4):
– 82 yards/75 meters approx. for chicken (total)
-- minimal for egg, chicken details (including head)

Stitches/Abbreviations Used- US terminology
• St: stitch
• Ch: chain
• Sl st: slip stitch
• MR: magic ring/Magic circle
• Sc: single crochet
• Hdc: half double crochet
• Dc: double crochet
• Tr: treble/triple crochet
• Inc: regular increase (two single crochet stitches in one stitch)
• Dec: regular decrease (crochet 2 stitches together- or use an invisible decrease if you’d like)
• FLO: work through the Front Loop Only
• BLO: work through the Back Loop Only
• F/O: finish or fasten off
• Instructions in brackets/parenthesis “()” are repeats: e.g. (3 sc, inc) x 5 means repeat stitches in brackets 5 times.
• Numbers in brackets/parenthesis at the end of the row dictate the number of stitches you should have e.g.- the first round of the head will have (12) stitches.
• Stitches in square brackets are stitches made in the same stitch.
