When you escape the constant busyness, when you slow down, you start to hear, to feel, your heart’s true call. A small plea, a chest crushing ache, a longing – there is something you need to say, something you need to do. A union of self, an unfolding, a remembering – the calm that follows a truth that is finally being expressed.
Why do you write? Why do you create? To capture, to find, to let your true self be heard…
Creativity is not always a romantic process, it claws, it digs… At times it is a battle, at times it is a bittersweet surrender – a diving into the depths. I am here, you say, I am listening – speak through me, let me be your empty flute.
This process is the inspiration behind the mitt set, it is a visual representation of a process, a journey of finding yourself – of the people, the moments that leave their mark. The centerpiece was inspired by a vintage cross stitch image, this starting point was an intention inclusion, a testament to one’s origins and early beginnings. How the image changed and grew, how it evolved over the years I worked on this, and the two, complementary, yet, different designs that emerged were a symbol of the movement and growth that continues throughout our journey and lives.
This is the second of the two designs, which are included in the Hidden Hearts Collection.

Materials:
• One 2.25mm / US size 1 circular needle 100cm / 40” in length for magic loop or set of DPNs, or one size smaller than needed to meet the required gauge.
• One 2.5mm / US size 1.5 circular needle 100cm / 40” in length for magic loop or set of DPNs, or size needed to meet the required gauge.
• Stitch marker, optional, used to mark the beginning of round.
• Stitch holder or waste yarn.
• Tapestry needle for sewing in threads.
• Blocking materials.
• Fingering weight yarn in three colours, approximately 125m / 137yds of the Main Colour and approximately 60m / 66yds of Contrast Colour 1, and 10m / 11 yds of Contrast Colour 2.

Size:
One size, 18cm / 7” in circumference and 19cm / 7.5” long after blocking, using stated gauge.

Gauge:
36 stitches and 45 rows = 10cm / 4” in stranded knitting with larger needles, worked in the round and blocked. Working to gauge is important to ensure that your knitted item is the correct size, and to ensure that yardage requirements are similar to those stated in the pattern.
