This mindful centre-out design provides limitless possibilities for different outcomes, depending on how many colours you choose to use; when/if you decide to change colours; and at what point you choose to end your motif.

The pattern includes a clear, marked chart, full written instructions, and lots of photos, making it a perfect introduction for anyone wanting to try centre-out overlay mosaic crochet … or for anyone wanting a nice easy project for the evenings.

For the Horizon Chunky blankets I stopped each square when I had almost run out of yarn:
The Baby Comforter measures 54cm and uses one 200g ball of Horizon Chunky;
The larger Throw measures 115 cm and uses one 200g ball for each of 4 individual squares, plus another for the moss stitch border.

I also made two scrappy DK blankets:
The first one was worked as one large continuous square.
I stopped when it measured 95 cm, and I had used around 500g of DK weight yarn;
For the second scrappy blanket I made individual squares in 2 sizes - the resulting blanket measures 113 x 158 cm and weighs around 1000g.

To simplify the abbreviations, and avoid the need for separate UK and US versions, the pattern is written in my ’Universal’ terms (I developed these terms for the Jacquard Temperature Blanket and have also used them in all my subsequent overlay mosaic crochet CALs and patterns).
