A quick, light-weight cowl to take the chill off your neck from autumn to early spring. Not too heavy, bulky, or restricting, but just right! A simple, easy to remember lace pattern and just a small amount of yarn produces a beautiful accessory for your collection!

I used Knit Picks Brava 500 yarn in white. This is a light worsted yarn. If you use a thicker yarn, it will be denser and warmer (and you may need to use different carriage tensions to knit it with).

I made this on a Brother KH-260 with a ribber, but it could be made on any bulky/chunky machine with or without a ribber (you could do manual latch rib). Of course, if you want to cast on a few more stitches, you could also make this on a mid-gauge or standard gauge machine as well. Just do a swatch and figure out how many stitches will produce a 13 inch square to determine how many stitches to cast on for your machine. If making it with a bulky machine, then the number of stitches in the pattern should work for you.

Note: When re-arranging stitches to start the lace pattern, and then again when moving the stitches back to the ribber before knitting the final welt, you will have an odd number of stitches on the right end of the needle bed. Just make sure you have 2 purls and then either 2 or 3 knit stitches on the outer edge. Double up stitches if needed to achieve this, or simply have 3 knit stitches on the far right edge -- either way works!

Note: Someone asked me how to knit this with hand knitting. I think it could be easily done. See the comments on this pattern for my best attempt at translating this into hand-knitting.
