The Intarsia hooded scarf is a modern, graphic scarf with a hood attached – like a balaclava with extra warmth for the neck.

First, the scarf is knitted in garter stitch, creating an I-cord edge as you knit. The graphical shapes are created using the intarsia technique. After finishing the scarf, a hood is knitted and attached to the scarf – of course you can also knit the scarf without the hood!

Needles: US 6 / 4mm knitting needles. Always use the needle size that results in the correct gauge measured after blocking.

Gauge: 23 stitches and 19.5 ridges (39 rows) equal 4 x 4 inches / 10 x10 cm in garter stitch, measured after washing and blocking.

Sizing: The scarf has one size. For the hood, you can choose between size 1 (2) depending on whether you‘d like the hood to sit tighter or looser.

Finished measurements:
Scarf: 77.25 inches long / 196 cm x 9 inches / 23cm wide,
Length of the hood laying flat: 7.5 (8) inches / 19 (20.5) cm.
Width of the hood laying flat: 7.75 (9.5) inches / 20 (23.5) cm.

Materials: One strand of a DK weight yarn in at least four shades.
The shapes are perfect for using up leftover yarns from your stash.

Musa Merino DK (100% merino wool, 100m / 109 yards / 50g)
