This pattern is for one block made using interlocking crochet. Two filet meshes are locked together as you work. It works best to use two contrasting yarns.

Both side-to-side (bottom up) and corner start methods are included - this allows for some fun ways to play with color! I enjoy using a self-striping style yarn for the corner start squares.

For the corner start, I used a 4.5mm hook with Red Heart ombre and Big Twist black, and got a 7.75” (20cm) square. It weighs 42g.

For the bottom up square, I used a 4mm hook with Scheepjes ColorCrafter and got a 7.25” (18.5cm) square. It weighs 23g.

Any yarn and associated hook will work, your square will just be a different size and you may need more or less yarn than is listed. You’ll need a bit more of the main/outside color than the contrasting color.
