US size ​​5 (3.75 mm) 24” circular needle or size needed to obtain gauge

SKILL LEVEL:

Adventurous Beginner - For the knitter who has worked projects in the round and can read charts. This pattern introduces basic colorwork and a basic crossed cable stitch that does not require a cable needle.

Notes from the Designer:

An intersection is a point where two or more paths converge. We come across literal intersections on the road, but we also face other kinds of figurative intersections throughout our lives. We may stop at these crossroads and be faced with a decision. Which direction will you take? Using a combination of knits, purls, simple colorwork, and crossed stitches to create a wonderfully textured knitting experience, I designed this cowl with the intention to reflect those intersections in life. Remember, no matter which direction you take, you are always exactly where you are supposed to be.

• Gauge is an important consideration for this project. You want to ensure the cowl will fit as expected.
• It is important to use the recommended circular needle length. You want to be able to connect the ends and knit smoothly around the piece. Magic Loop is not recommended.
• This pattern repeats in sets of 28 stitches. If you want to make your cowl wider, add repeats in multiples of 28.
• After Section 1, I find it helpful to place stitch markers every 28 stitches. This makes it easier to keep track of where you are in the pattern and catch any mistakes before you get too far.
• Three colors were used to knit the sample. However, you could knit this cowl in a single color, or use a different color for each section. The possibilities are endless!
• If you want fewer ends to weave in, you can loosely carry the unused yarn up the seam until you need it again. Be sure it’s not carried tightly, or you will end up with puckering along the seam. Otherwise, you can choose to break off respective color(s) that are not used in the next section
