About the Pattern

The Into the Woods Scarf was inspired by my days of backpacking in the Sierra Nevada mountains. A trail leads into a forest, which gives way to hills and mountains with the sky above. It’s the perfect scarf for cold nights camping or when you want to carry the beauty of nature with you.

Double knit, the scarf is fully reversible, featuring opposite color schemes on each side. Full instructions are included for the double knitting technique. The scarf is approximately 66” (168 cm) in length, but can easily be increased or decreased. The scarf is approximately 5” (12.7 cm) wide. The color work design is chart only, not written instructions.

Materials

  • Size 2 US (2.75 mm) needles.
  • Size 1 US (2.25 mm) needles (optional for a neater cast on edge).
  • Approximately 400-425 yards (366-389 m) each of two contrasting colors of fingering weight yarn for a scarf of length 66” (168 cm). The scarf can be easily increased or decreased in length.
  • Needle to weave in ends.
