This cowl uses a classic stitch pattern with a twist to create gorgeous depth and texture in two highly contrasting colors of yarn.

Yarn
Seismic Yarn Butter Sock, fingering weight, 437 yards/100g full skein in Iolite (MC) and 87
yards/20g mini skein in Montana Sapphire (CC).

The sample used 79g (approx 350 yards) of MC and 9g (approx 35 yards) of CC.

Substitute any fingering weight yarn that you like, but select a CC that is very high contrast from
the MC.

Tools
US 3 (3.25mm) circular needle, 16” or 24”
Stitch marker - a simple ring marker without a dangling charm will be easiest because you will
be moving the marker around lattice strands at the end of some rows.
Tapestry needle
Blocking mat and pins (optional)

Gauge
Approximately 4 pattern repeats or 24 sts over 4” (10cm).
Gauge isn’t critical for this project, but keep in mind that a vastly different gauge will affect the
yardage requirement.

Size
The cowl measures 11.25” (28.5 cm) across and 14” (35.5 cm) long after blocking. The width
and length are easily adjusted by adding or removing pattern repeats.
