After trying several free patterns for a crocheted shamrock or four-leaf clover, I decided I didn’t like any of them and improvised my own. I ended up liking my final product enough that I decided to write it down and share with everyone.

After expressing their admiration for the design, my non-knitting parents, and always-knitting older sister, will be sporting their own copies of this cute shamrock pin on St. Patrick’s Day.

Pattern available for free in my blog, more pictures to come!

3/18/09 - A smart little bird told me (via ravelry comments) that a true shamrock is only three leaves. So while this may be a nice pattern for a four-leaf clover, you should leave out one repeat from each round to make a shamrock.

Thank you to CorcraCroise for pointing that out to me, I’m only 1/16 Irish, a regular American mutt! =)

10/22/09 - check out Laurazlsk’s modification on the stem, looks really nice
