The second I found out I was pregnant with a little girl I started thinking about what I could knit for her when she arrived. Since she was going to arrive in Autumn I wanted a dress to reflect that and that could be layered with leggings or cardigans, but still had enough cute features to be worn on its own.

When thinking about a design feature that represented Autumn I couldn’t go past pinecones. To me they evoke thoughts of collecting them in a woodsy clearing, the air brisk at your face and fingers tingling with cold, then watching them crackle on a fire later that evening. There is a pinecone motif around the bottom of the dress that is simple to knit, but creates a special feature.
