Ise Gropius was an editor, a secretary and an equal partner for the Bauhaus founder Walter Gropius.

ISE is an unisex cable hat pattern. Actually it was designed for my son, who had written a short wishlist in December. On top of his list was a knitted hat! I must admit, that it is rather difficult to find a matching pattern for a student of Architecture. First of all it should be (mainly) gray or black and showing a rectangular pattern.

Take a look on the stunning projects of my fabulous test knitters!

The ISE pattern is a fast and fun knit, perfect for a last minute gift, if you have a skein of Worsted or Aran weight yarn in you stash. Happy me, having this stunning gray in my stash!

There is a seamless transition from ribbed brim to cable pattern and the crown decreases are part of the pattern too. The hat is worked up quickly and the pattern is easy to memorize.

The pattern is worked in the round from the bottom up. Pattern is given in two sizes (adult M/L) but it can be knit in multiple sizes by changing needle size and gauge; Block the finished cap over a steep-sided bowl or other head-shaped form to smooth the crown.
