This is a bottom-up cowl with a scarf extension at the bottom. It can be worked as shown with a cable collar or a plain stocking stitch collar (instructions are given for both versions).

If you are a bit short of yarn, you can decrease the number of pattern repeats and knit a shorter neck section.
