Pattern notes
This cardigan begins by knitting two pocket linings. The body is then cast on and joined for working in the round, with a steek; and a colourwork band is worked, before joining the two pocket linings to the top of the band, and binding off the front steek stitches to continue working the remainder of the garment back and forth. Armscyes are shaped, then fronts and back are divided to be worked separately, shaping the front neck with decreases. The shoulders are joined and two sleeves are picked up, around each armscye, and worked top-down, with short rows shaping the upper sleeve cap for a tailored, set-in fit. A ribbed band is then picked up around the front openings and completed with i-cord bind-off, into which buttonholes are inserted. The pockets are stitched in place and i-cord completes the pocket tops. After casting on, steek stitches are not included in running stitch counts.
